GlobalMelt

  • Biggest missed opportunity in live events: the post event drink; the private talking with people between sessions; should be more outcome; difficult to keep track of the persons met; questions longer than the answer; not enough round tables; not respecting schedules; no follow-up; not knowing the persons coming from far places; not enough times to tallk with everyone; lecturing instead of discussing, not talking with others.
  • Biggest road-block to be removed to make the event success: see board...
    • Money: how to request and get funds, write applications and so on: it's not so hard but can be a big missing skill, know-how should be spread.
  • Sparkles: keep contacts better, especially if you don't manage to talk about something with someone (whatever random idea comes up during the meeting and then disappear). Tell the organizer about the persons and sparkle; they'll send you a reminde and ask to share te results.

Mentoring programs

  • Someone used a Mozilla program which eventually crashed
  • outreach:LiveHelp, a suggested extension, with a suppport group like on OTRS not wasting energies with overlap
  • hu.wiki: introduced 3 years ago, new users were welcomed and redirected to the program (just clicking on the link puts them in a category where users in need of help are found); many users happy of being here thanks to the mentor; there is an image+bio of mentors, choice of the mentor is a parameter in the template. w:hu:Kategória:Mentorálás, w:hu:Kategória:Segítségkeresők
  • zk.wiki: a page where to ask questions, not active; within the welcome template a link to user talks of available users; will give contact to
  • ru.wiki: the same, only a user/month actually uses it to ask help; the incubator namespace is more used
  • id.wiki: bennylin didn't show up
  • Follow-ups:
    1. A page on Meta to coordinate
    2. Measure the effectiveness of the programs to compare them and support different ways to do it
