Hi there,

First, I want to draw your attention to the fact that vegetarian food is one of the options we're offering as part of registration. That's applicable for the meals served during the conference.

Secondly, I wanted to say that because many restaurants and cafes in Israel are kosher (even though in Haifa that's not as common as other places), they are then either serving meat but no dairy products OR no meat at all and based on a vegetarian/dairy menu - their kosher certificates says which of the two, and they are under quite strict supervision to comply with this if they want to keep their certificate (and the large clientele who eats kosher only). Note that (kosher) fish of all sorts is considered dairy - that's the way it is, even if it sounds weird to you :). Most kosher cafes are dairy. In this kind of place it's easy for vegetarians to eat. Harel 21:56, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I wish to point that I am vegeterian and as general menager of wikimania I will make sure there is planty of vegeterian options. Deror avi 09:05, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot to both of you, I very much appreciate support in this matter. Will there also be an option for vegan food? Or is the vegetarian option also vegan? Thanks again, --Church of emacs 13:08, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think not. Vegan is very rare in Israel in general and the hassle of providing specifically vegan in addition to vegetarian food would not be justified by the demand. I'm not a big expert on vegan, but I think falafel for example is perfectly vegan - no milk, no eggs etc. Israeli cuisine is very much based on vegetables and therefore any typical Israeli cafe will offer you many different salads which a vegan could eat. According to Wikipedia, Falafel is in the category "Vegan cuisine", so I guess that's an option :)
By the way: Is it forbidden to bring food into Israel from Europe? If not, I could just take a few things with me --Church of emacs 20:39, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Moving pages with invalid titles

Hi, since you're the most recent admin in the logs, would you be able to grant me the "confirmed" right so I can move a couple of badly titled pages, or just move them yourself? "Submissions/Testing for Mediawiki" should be "Submissions/Testing for MediaWiki" and "Submissions/A framework to visualizing wiki-based transclusion" should be "Submissions/A framework to visualize wiki-based transclusion". These are both linked from the Wikipedia Signpost. Thanks! Graham87 09:07, 2 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I moved both pages.
Unfortunately, I can't give you "Confirmed" rights on this Wiki, as there is no such user group (only the implicit usergroup "Autoconfirmed", which is determined by number of registered days on this Wiki and cannot be assigned manually). If you wish to move more pages, I'll poke a Steward to create an "Autoconfirmed" group. Or you can just ask a Bureaucrat to give you sysop rights here :). Cu at Wikimania! --Tobias 09:18, 2 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

For the record, the confirmed usergroup does exist here, but can be assigned and removed only by stewards. Ruslik 10:38, 14 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
