Why isn't there any English description for 'Welcome to Wikimania' or something like that?

Languages of the main page

As far as I understand, the Hebrew version is meant to encourage local participation. I added an Arabic version according to the policy of offering information in Arabic to the local participants (since Haifa has a large Arab community, and since it is the second official language of Israel). Personally, I think further translations are not needed. Maybe Russian translation would be appropriate, if someone could make it, since Russian is also widely spoken in the local community, but I think that will definitely do for the main page (as opposed to the internal pages which can be translated to any language). Thanks for the Arabic translation. But unlike the Hebrew version, for which a link is provided on the English version, there is no link on the Main Page to redirect a visitor to the Arabic version. Please ensure that a link is provided for the Arabic version as well. Hindustanilanguage 05:32, 2 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well, that's a problem indeed. The main page works a bit differently than other pages, and perhaps there are technical limitations (every day I encounter a new feature of Media-Wiki, perhaps I should study this system more thoroughly :-) ). DrorK 07:06, 2 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I added a Russian translation. In Arabic the interface is not fully translated (see Program and Accommodation).

Dear Ruslik,
The problem again is whether there is a link to the translated file on the English version or not. Hindustanilanguage 07:02, 7 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Although I fully agree with Dror about the language versions of the Main Page, there can be a consolation for folks who wish to see the main page featured in their language at this link.====Hindustanilanguage 07:10, 7 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Since all Israelis can read at least some Hebrew, we could write "For Israeli participants" either in English or in Hebrew, link it to the Hebrew page, and from there to the Arabic an Russian pages. I'll let the head of the outreach team make the final decision on this, because this is not merely an issue of conveying information, but also of the best way to reach out to potential participants. Traducción de la página

Por favor, alguien podría desbloquear esta página? Yo quería mucho poner las traducciones, a sieren traducidas en el futuro. Yo quería traducir esta página para portugués. Por qué no traducir? Eduardo P 17:00, 14 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"photos on our Flickr stream our Youtube channel."/"Photos"

The "Watch from afar" section says "Check the conference photos on our Flickr stream our Youtube channel." ("our Youtube channel" linking to the flickr stream), and the "Photos" section goes to the Youtube channel. Both should be fixed. --Yair rand 21:49, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Current events

Why there are no links to such projects as twitter, irc, skype-chats...? They can be useful for tracking current information. Infovarius 09:08, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
