Talk:Global South Meeting

From Wikimania 2011 • Haifa, Israel

I am concerned about the expected effectiveness of this meeting, especially considering it is unlikely that we would have many representatives of the developing world present as early as that. I repeat my suggestion to include this as an informal and shorter session during the main conference. Ijon 23:20, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with Ijon. In the list I see only Motherforker and Jewbask from LatAm and two from Africa... but while a huge group of people from developing nations will arrive in the following days. I will arrive at Haifa on August 3rd with other Chilean and four Argentineans, while I'm prettu sure the Brazilian and Mexican delegation will arrive the same day. It won't be helpful to host a meeting without the people affected about it, so it would be great if you can move the meeting to other day... --B1mbo 14:52, 1 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I understand this well. The problem is that on August 3rd there is the chapters meeting where most of them are already involved and during the conference there is no time for a real meeting. That's why we have decided to use this day and announce it early, so if someone is interested she/he can come a day earlier. It's developers days and other meetings anyway on these two days, so many people will come earlier anyway. --80686 17:03, 1 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
